Partner with Us
Our success is down to lots of great partnerships, especially with those based locally. We are always looking for new partnerships, individuals or organisations, to help us with our restoration plans, either through hands on involvement or funding, to organise events, understand and improve the garden’s biodiversity, and do more with the local community.
help with the Restoration
Here are some of the local experts who have helped us rebuild the carriage gates, restore the pergola, the summerhouse and the garden’s entrance. Current active partners include Martin Stallard our expert stonemason who is training our volunteers on stonework repair. New volunteers are welcome to help with this work and benefit from his training in these heritage skills. Get in touch to find out more!
organise EVENTS
The garden is a perfect location for group events from photography, sketching, writing, talks, theatre and craft activities such as willow making. Visits to the garden are organised by local interest groups, ranging from history, art, photography and walking groups and of course gardening societies. We also welcome businesses for team building events.
Our current summer programme includes a series of talks about the historical context of the garden organised with Kate Hext, Associate Professor in Decadent Literature and the Arts at Exeter University, as well as specialist tree tours with passionate arboriculturalist Marco Bartolini, along with our ongoing guided tours for groups led by our volunteer guides. Read about these on our events page.
We are always looking for new ideas for events or workshops in the garden, or volunteers to lead guided tours or help with event marketing, planning and logistics so do get in touch!
welcome the local COMMUNITY
We have partnered with schools such as Combe Pafford School and Glendinning Academy to offer tailored programmes of outdoor learning for their students with learning difficulties, the security of the garden proving to be of great benefit. We welcome other schools or adult support groups that would like to benefit from time in the garden.
support wildlife
Our partnership with Devon Biodiversity Records Centre has helped us capture the variety of bird and insect species in the garden. Supported by our volunteers, our aim is to build the baseline of all species present in the garden, and work to help them thrive. The Devon Moth Group has run seasonal moth trapping evenings, recording close to 200 different species of moth. We are currently working with Devon Wildlife Trust to run wildlife gardening workshops in the garden to demonstrate how wild plants can be integrated within a planted garden.
