SPOTLIGHT: Photographer - Vicki Gardner
VICKI GARDNER - GARDEN Photographer
Here’s a little about Vicki
Vicki has loved photography as a medium since she was a teenager and she completed a combined degree at Oxford Brookes University in Visual Studies and Cartography. Several years of world travelling after university, with her first Canon EOS film camera cemented this love of documenting life, nature and everything in between.
Now, she’s been a freelance photographer for many years, juggling work with being a busy mum to three lovely daughters. Vicki has won various competitions including several prizes with the prestigious Royal Horticultural Societies photographic competition. She supplies leading photo libraries, has exhibited many times and had her work published in numerous newspapers and magazines.
What does Vicki do for the the Italian Garden?
Her passion remains nature photography, particularly macro work, including garden photography but most recently, she’s bought herself a pinhole camera and this has opened up a whole new genre of photography for her and started her involvement with the Italian Garden at Great Ambrook.
Her initial images of the garden were before the many volunteers started their herculean task of clearing the many years of neglect and rampant growth and lent itself perfectly for pinhole photography. Now she’s thrilled to be documenting the progress of the garden through digital and medium format work and has started to lead workshops at the garden too. Vicki also undertakes commissions and has photographed jewellery, weddings, art work, artists at work and also offers natural outdoor family photo shoots.
